Songs in the Key of Death - March 11th 2010, 12:54 AM

This thread has been labeled as triggering by the original poster or by a Moderator. Please take this into consideration before continuing to read.

We face the path of time
And yet I fight
And yet I fight
This battle all alone
No one to cry to
No place to call home AiC -- Nutshell

I got this thing inside me
That's got to find a place to hide me
I only know I must obey
This feeling I can't explain away Steely Dan Any World

I just looked in the mirror
And things arent looking so good
Im looking California
And feeling Minnesota, oh yeah Soundgarden Outshined

Can you deny
there's nothing greater
nothing more than
the travelling hands of time
St. Genevieve can hold back the water
Saints dont bother
with the tear stained eye Son Volt -- Tear-Stained Eye

Read my writing on the wall
No ones here to catch me when I fall
If ignorance is bliss, then knock the smile off my face RATM Settle for Nothing

Forever fooling, free and using, sliding down the
slide that breaks a will
Mothers angel, getting smarter, how smart are
you to regress unfulfilled? It's a damn shame,
but who's to blame? Pantera Suicide Note, Pt. 1

Darling Im not giving in
That happened miles ago
I heard the North Star sayin
Kid youre so lost even I cant bring you home
Saying everything is fine
By the look in my eye
But you know darling
Half of what a man says is a lie Magnolia Electric Co North Star

You who wish to conquer pain
You must learn what makes me kind
The crumbs of love that you offer me
Are the crumbs Ive left behind
Your pain is no credential here,
Its just the shadow, shadow of my wound Leonard Cohen Avalanche

What have I become?
my sweetest friend
everyone I know
goes away in the end
And you could have it all
my empire of dirt
I will let you down
I will make you hurt
If I could start again
a million miles away
I would keep myself
I would find a way NiN Hurt (Cash cover FTW)

I've got this epic problem, this epic problem's not a problem for me
And inside I know I'm broken, but I'm working as far as you can see
And outside its all production it's all illusion, set, scenery Fugazi Epic Problem

I once held her in my arms
She said she would always stay
But I was cruel and I treated her like a fool
I threw it all away

Once I had mountains in the palm of my hand
Rivers that ran through every day
I must have been mad I never knew what I had
Until I threw it all away Bob Dylan I Threw it All Away

Now I'm out of prison, I got me a friend at last
He don't steal or cheat or drink or lie
His name's codeine, he's the nicest thing I've seen
Together we're gonna wait around and die

Why are you making a post with songs that seem to encourage death? I don't understand.

^^ I find many of the lyrics relate to my condition and emotions, the songs themselves seem to comfort me, as paradoxical as it sounds.

Also, thought it would be more interesting than another "fuck the world" rant. Not that I find others' problems unimportant -- far from it, but I've already gone into my particular issues in another thread and find repetition boring.

Hmm. I see where you are coming from but it seems to me that anyone feeling down would want to hear positive songs!

For the record... Johnny Cash actually re-did THIS song. This was done by NIN on their album "The Downward Spiral" in 1994, whereas Johnny Cash released his cover in 2002, shortly before his death in 2003. In fact, my dad laughs at the fact that he chose a NIN song before he passed on.

But as was said, why would you choose to post about songs that could be potentially triggering? I mean, I don't think these song suggestions are best suited for these forums, personally. It's almost as if you're glorifying it, really.
