I'm on it for anxiety (specifically OCD) and have found it to work wonders. Remember though, as with any medication, they work best in conjunction with talk therapy. So, that just means that if the medication is the only thing that is happening, it's not as likely to work as if you're talking to a therapist, making some positive changes in your life, etc. And, not all anti-depressants work the same for each person! So try not to be discouraged if you don't see results right away.

Good luck!

Hey ther Aaron,

It's wonderful that you've been getting help for your depression and that you're receiving medication which should help.
I haven't personally taken Lexapro, but I have taken other anti-depressant medication which has had a very good effect upon me. I think that it's a great idea if you do persist with your medication and try it out to see if it's helpful for you. If not, then there are other options and other types of medication available. I would also recommend that you do get some sort of long-term help with your depression alongside your medication, Aaron, such as a talking therapy.
If you have any questions or worries about your medication, don't hesitate to talk to your psychiatrist.

Take care.

Re: Lexapro - March 21st 2010, 08:01 PM

Yep, I was on it from the end of October, I finished a few months ago. Personally I found it really helped me. It really made me feel good. (: I did have a fair few side effects though, including protein and carbohydrates cravings, general bigger appetite, sweating a lot more, sex drive going haywire and being unable to orgasm. Also my friend told me that when she came off it she was really sick for a couple of weeks...but I never experienced that myself.

EDIT: Here's the thread i posted about it a few months ago (:

So would you say your sex drive has decreased?

Thank you all =]
