anyone have any experience of citalopram? - May 4th 2011, 06:37 PM

Hey, I've been taking fluoxetine since around june last year. They were making me feel really ill so I stopped taking them about a month ago but since then my mood has just plummeted. I went back to my doctor today and asked him to change them to citalopram after my counsellors recommendation. Apparently they are good for anxiety as well as depression. Has anyone ever taken them before and what was your experience of them?

I took Celexa (citalopram) for a few months... Personally it had no effect whatsoever on me. But, I was 13 at the time, and it's different for everyone. It had absolutely no effect on me whatsoever, except it made me yawn a lot. It didn't make me tired, I just yawned a lot weird... So, that's my experience. Good luck in finding what you need!! I'm here for ya, PM me anytime you want!! <3

Hey I'm on Citalopram, it's the only anti-depressant I've been on and it has been fine for me. I DID get side-effects during the first 2/3 weeks of taking them though. I felt a bit dizzy and a bit... odd (kind of depersonalised) They effect everyone differently though, so what I experienced won't be what you'll experience.

I hope they'll be okay for you <3

Hey, cheers for your replies. Well I took my first one today and feel a little sick but not sure if that's just psychological, is it even possible to feel the side effects this early? Fingers crossed they start working soon as I have exams soon!

Hey i was on Flouxetine and they made me poorly too so i stopped taking them and i also got put on Citalopram after my therapists recommendation lol.. at first i didn't like takin them coz they weren't makin me feel better, so after about 7 weeks i stopped taking them too. I highly insist you do not stop taking them if you've started coz they will make you really poorly. After i stopped i was very sick for a few weeks coz my body couldn't cope with it. However now ive been put on them again and ive been taking them for just a week so far. Hopefully they'll work out for both of us. I feel a little sick too but don't know if that's for other reasons :/
Take care and pm me whenever <3
