Unhappy Help Please - May 17th 2011, 02:08 AM

I am a 14 year old boy living in California. I come from an Asian family and they are always strict. I am currently in 8th grade. Recently, my parents have been yelling at me a lot and I don't know what to do. They complain about everything: they expect me to be perfect in piano, choir, school, everything. I can't stand it any more. My mom and dad are divorced and my mom and grandma keeps threatening to send me to my dad. My dad is also pressuring me to do perfect in this and that... Please tell me what to do.

I can understand how some parents want their kids to be perfect at everything, but it's just not going to happen. Your family needs to realize that.
I think you should be honest with them and tell them that you can't take the pressure. I would only stick with the activities that you actually enjoy doing. Your parents should not be allowed to force you to do anything you don't want to do. The only thing that they should be encouraging right now is that you do your best in school. Too many extra activities is just too much stress for you right now and I think you should tell them that.
