Ok, so that is the question...what animal do you think is the most independant?

I'd say it depends on your definition of independent really. In what way independent, and independent of what?

I'd say cats too. They like to do their own thing, don't like been bossed around and love hunting for themselves even if you feed them.

I'm a huge cat lover

Men...
But if you're talking about pets? Then men...
=p Cats are the teenagers of the cat world, so I'd say cats are the most independent of the pet world?

Fish.... you can't interact with them at all. Has anyone ever had a special connection to their pet goldfish? Nope. Lots of people have affectionate cats but no one has a goldfish that likes to cuddle.

But then... Obviously you feed your cat, but half the time I swear my cat goes and gets it own meals, cleans itself etc... If you were to leave a cat with an open door, house and neighborhood, it could live without you... A gold fish, not so much :/

Like all the others said, I think cats are independent. I'm not a big fan of them because I really get scared when I'm near them but it amazes me how they could find food for themselves and stuff.. :]

But you don't keep your cat locked up in a tiny little tank. I'm sure a goldfish could survive on it's own if it had access to the things wild goldfish do

cats, they generaly just use houses as a place to sleep, cats can feed themselves, and are pretty independent the bigger cats like tigers and lions hunt in packs thoo, my cat used to disapear for days then return and the patio would be a pet cemetery.

Re: Independent Animals. - November 10th 2009, 08:54 PM

my mutt dog, Skinny, used to be pretty independant when we lived on a farm. she'd do her own thing all day long and just ate what she wanted from the rabbit traps.
My working dog, Seymour, did the same but he and I have an incredible bond and these days there isn't much I do without him. sadly, it's interefering with his independance but, now that we live in the city he has to rely on us for food/exercise/entertainment anyway...

Cats or fish as far as "house pets" go.
I would probably say any wild animal that doesn't like to live in groups, snakes I suppose.
Spiders. That type of stuff.
