Rats

Why do some people think it's disgusting to have rats as pets? I used to have two pet rats and most people I knew thought that was gross.

I'd say it's because rats have a lot of negative connotations added to them. They're known as disease carriers and while pet rats may not carry diseases the wild ones do and I think it's hard for people to split the two up.

I don't like rats, but it depends.
Rats are vermin in most parts, but so are most animals.
It really depends on how cute the animal is.
My Auntie had white rats, they are really cute.
I'm not a fan of the brown, more 'wild' looking ones.
It really just depends on the person.
Some like cats, some like dogs and others like both.

I do not like rats. I mean you know, I don't have anything
against people who keeps rats as a pet but not in a million
years you'll ever see me have one as a pet.
But you know, it depends for everyone.

I would never want to own a pet rat, simply because I find them disgusting. I've always thought that rodents just aren't good for pets. But this is coming from a person who would never even want a pet hamster. I'm just a dog person!

I had a pet rat, now my brother has one. A few friends don't like them because of their tales, if they are albino their red eyes, or just the whole past plague thing. =P. It's silly really. Also they associate them with mice, which makes them think of creepy little things running around their house. Just my guess. Either way I love rats, well, the pet ones anyway =P.

*shrugs* I dunno, some people just don't like some animals due to some irrational reason or another. It's all just nature, or a part of it anyhows. I love rats, they're so cute. I just couldn't really get one since I'd end up getting bitten by my snakes if they smelt it on me. ^^;
