my cat got bitten :( - April 29th 2010, 04:58 AM

My cat is an outdoor cat, and a little fighter haha.
Yesterday he came home with a huge chunk missing from the side of his tail. It was bleeding a lot. I tried to clean it up but he wouldnt let me touch it, so I just left it. The blood dried up, but it still looks pretty gnarly.

He had his shots when I first got him, but should I take him into the vet anyways? I think he'll survive this; he's been bitten before. I just dont want him to get some crazy disease and suddenly die.

What do you think?

Hey Annie,

I definitely think that you should take your cat to the vet. Just in case the other cat had something wrong with them.

Good luck
Brittany.

And I will take you in my arms, and hold you right where you belong.
Til the day my life is through, this I promise you.121109

agreed with brittany. other then that. make sure he gets plenty of food, and plenty of sleep. he should heal pretty good on his own.

i wonder when i'll finally jsut start accepting myself, when i'll stop saying i wish i could be like that person.

The wound can get infected if you didn't clean it, since you said he didn't let you touched his wound. A lot of complications can happen if you don't check that out with the vet.

You should go to the vet with him ASAP.

How long ago did he have his shots, particularly rabies? I would think it would be unusual for another cat to bite his tail... which means it was more likely a dog, or a wild animal like a skunk, raccoon, or possum. And are you sure it's a bite and not like he got his tail stuck in something?

In any case, you need to clean the wound and bind it if possible asap. If you have the money, take him to the vet. If not, watch him and his wound closely.

I'd say definatly take him to the vets, wounds can get infected very quickly and can cause great problems.

Go to a vet with him. Saw that happen to a dog of a friend and some tumour-looking like thing started growing out of his foot, got bitten in the foot somehow... lol. Maybe it tried to kick the other dog in the mouth or somethin, kickboxing.

If you've got some spare time, read this:

But don't if you're easily triggered. If you're not easily triggered then go ahead.
