Nervous about tomorrow - July 5th 2012, 10:02 PM

Okay, I know there have been similar posts to this, but I really don't know what I should do.

3 of my closest friends and I are going to King's Dominion tomorrow which I'm really excited about. And no parents will be with us. Unfortunately it's supposed to be really hot tomorrow which means that my friends will probably want to spend a little bit of time in the waterpark part of the park. The problem is, I've been avoiding swimming all summer, and I'm not sure if I'm comfortable with swimming since I have a noticeable amount of scars on my thighs from cutting. I've been trying to stop, and 2 of the friends already know. My other friend doesn't really know. She knows that at one point I had been scratching myself but she thinks I've stopped all that and has no idea about the cutting. I'm not sure I want her to know either since we've had a bit of conflict between us lately (long story). Anyway, I'm not sure if I should swim since there's going to be a ton of people around and I'll be really self-conscious (especially since I can't really say I'm past the cutting yet). Should I just skip the water park and only go on the other rides and roller coasters? I'm just really nervous about this.

Do you have any board shorts? or have any friends/family that you could borrow board shorts from? You could wear them in the water park and the main bit as they dry quickly and no-one would really notice anything odd.

No, I don't have any board shorts and none of my friends do either. And it's too late to go out and buy some (plus I couldn't find any that I liked and were long enough).

Do you have any normal shorts that could almost pass as board shorts, maybe?

Hey there,

I've struggled with this a lot in the past, and usually I just wear shorts, but since you don't have that option, if they're not fresh, use cover up, if so that could be a problem. You might just go and make excuses or tell them the truth. Or you could have a towel wrapped around your waist when you're not in the water. Most of the time people don't notice once you're already in the water so that might work too.

I hope this helped. Just be confident if you don't decide to use a towel, it sucks, but you deserve to have some fun. Good luck!

Re: Nervous about tomorrow - July 6th 2012, 12:09 AM

I guess I could just be honest with my other friend (the one that doesn't know). The other 2 will probably back me up if needed. I just feel really bad about reminding my friends of what I've done-I know it hurts them a lot... If anyone else asks (since there's lines for the water slides and stuff), I'll probably just make up some crazy story for laughs. Thanks so much.

Yesterday actually went great! Turns out my best friend didn't even bring her swimsuit and stuff (I think she did that on purpose though) and the others were okay with not swimming since there were two other water rides that weren't part of the waterpark. Thanks so much for all the support though. I'll probably have to actually face swimming sooner or later.

Good to hear things went well! Since you have time before your next swim I would look into board shorts that cover your SH scars. Good luck! <3

Good idea. Do you know where I can find any that are long and aren't too expensive? Most of the ones I found were pretty much short-shorts and like $50 or more.

I don't know if you'd be willing to try eBay but this seemed to have a couple good results: http://shop.mobileweb.ebay.com/searc...=0&y=0&cmd=SKW
I got that link on my iPod so I apologize if the mobile site comes up!
If you find one you like that's too big you or someone else could take it in for you. I hope that helped.

Thank you so much! I'll have to see about getting something off of eBay. That may or may not work. My parents would probably be suspicious about it, but I might be able to get a friend to help out. Thanks again
