Really need help, now! - August 2nd 2012, 11:53 PM

i have cuts on my upper leg/thigh area and i need to know how to cover them when wearing a swimsuit. some are as new as yesterday, and i don't wear makeup so i can't use that. my swimsuit has shorts that are just a little too short to cover. the visible cuts are words, so excuses might not work. my parents know about my cutting, but don't know i still do it. please help. if i don't swim they'll know something is up.

Hi there.

Be honest? Something is up. Something is wrong and its making you feel so low and hurt that you're physically inflicting pain upon yourself. Be honest with them, let them in and let them help you because you have a reason in life and you're worth a lot and you DO deserve the help and support. You don't have to be alone or hide whats going on. People can help you in this and maybe this is the point where you're honest with them and get the support you need and deserve.

That said, I know you might ignore all off it. I know its hard to open up to people but I honestly think it might help. Having people there can be really helpful. I honestly can't think of any ideas when you're going swimming. But you don't need to hide. You're beautiful with scars and maybe this is a good oppurtunity to tell your parents.

Im sorry if this wasn't the help you were looking for. We're always here for you if you need anything.

Keep on smiling. :-)
Jessie

Hey there,

I agree with Jessie, I think you should tell your parents about it. You said they've known in the past, so I think they'd really support you and try to help you out. I also think it would be better to tell them than to have them find out yourself. You deserve their support, and you don't have to fight self harm alone!

You deserve to have fun, no matter your situation, even if you have scars. Go swimming, have fun, wear your swim shorts to cover up most of it, and try to forget your problems and have fun!

I'm also going to send you a list of alternatives, I know you didn't ask for it, but here it is anyway. http://www.teenhelp.org/forums/f12-s...ves-self-harm/

I hope this helped a bit, if not I'm sorry if you ever need anyone to talk to, feel free to message me! Good luck!

Hey There,

I agree with the above posters. Just let them in on it.
Also I've gone swimming with scars on my thighs and people rarely notice. They usually are to busy with swimming or talking to other people.
Regardless of whether they notice or not telling them is a great option.
I hope all goes well for you and we are all here for you if you need us.
