Unhappy How do I ask my Parents? - September 14th 2012, 11:53 PM

I have been self harming again and i just don't want to live anymore, and im really really ready to give up. But i really dont want to give up and I dont know how to ask my parents to take me to the hospital.

My wrist have cuts and scars, and they tell my story and who i am.

Hey there Jordy,

I think it is good that you do not want to give up and are trying to fight for yourself! I think you should be really proud of yourself. Are your parents aware of the fact that you previously struggled with self harm and depression? If so I think you should just let them know that things have gotten bad again and you feel unsafe and let them know that you think you might need to go back to the hospital. If your parents are not aware of your issues with self harm you might need to fill them in on your struggles with self harm and depression and then fill them in on your desire to go to the hospital.

I realize that reaching out to them like this might be hard but I think that it is important to remember that your parents love you and want to see you safe. Also, I think that you should remember that they would probably much rather be aware that you are struggling with these things than to be left in the dark about these things.

I hope that this helped and if you need anything please feel free to pm me.

Hi there,

I'm really sorry to hear things are bad for you right now but I do think its really great that you've come to us here for some help and that you're wanting to get help from your parents.

Be honest with them. I know that can be incredibly hard and scary but I feel confident in saying your parents would rather you be honest and open about everything and ask them to help you get the help you want than for you to not tell them and be honest and end up hurting yourself. Don't you?

I don't know if your parents are aware of any past struggles you have had? If so like already said to you, fill them in on what's been going on and update them about your urges and thoughts as well as how you feel. If they don't know, start from the beginning and explain how bad you feel things are now.

You deserve help. You can do this so keep fighting :-)
