I just cut... - February 26th 2013, 04:38 AM

I just cut. I don't even know why I cut. Today wasn't a horrible day. I don't know why. But I cut. And again I cut. And I forgot why I stopped. It made me think I should never have stopped. Why did I stop?

Sorry you're dealing with this. I think it's possible you may be addicted to Self-Harm. Cutting releases endorphins to create that feel good feeling, which is what makes it become addictive. You need to remind yourself that you must have stopped because you realized that you're worth it, that you don't deserve to hurt yourself. That's the truth.

Take a look at the Self-Harm Alternatives thread. I like the Calm Jar, you put colored water in a jar with a bunch of glitter and shake it and just watch all the beautiful glitter float down to the bottom. It calms you down and helps you focus on something other than hurting yourself.

Quitting right now before it gets worse and more addictive is best. The scars and wounds are horrible to cover up. Plus, it's a really unhealthy coping mechanism. Can you talk to someone about it? A friend, your parents, a relative, therapist? Having a support system to encourage you to stop is important.

You can PM/VM me anytime if you need someone to talk to.
