Exclamation anyone know anyways to get them to heal? - June 18th 2015, 01:18 PM

Okay so like two days ago i freaked out and cut again a bit on my thigh. Then i remembered that tomorrow i was suppose to go swimming with a friend.
The cuts are too deep or anything but theres quite a few and they're not hard to notice. Does anyone know anyways to get them to fade a bit. I know they won't go away completely for a week or two but i just want them less noticeable.
Please tell me anything that might help.

Quite honestly the best thing you can do is keep them clean. Since they're open I wouldn't recommend putting any sort of lotion or makeup on them so try and keep them clean with soap and water or a disinfecting ointment. A day isn't a lot of time though. Maybe you can wear shorts with your bathing suit, but I do recommend seeking help for the self harm so you don't have to be in a situation like this again!

Hey there,

I don't think it would be safe for you to put makeup or anything like that on them. It might cause an infection since the wounds are still open. Do you think you could find some shorts to wear with your bathing suit so that they are covered up a bit more? I hate swimming unless I am completely covered so I'll wear things like shirts and shorts with them.

Hi there.

When I go swimming, I always wear shorts! Definitely a good option if you feel able too! No reason not! Just make sure you keep it clean and seek medical help if needed (if they start looking a funny colour or smell weird ) and remember we're here for you to talk too. I know you haven't asked for any help with the self harming, but do know you aren't alone in it and we're more than happy to help you through what ever it is you are going through.

Hope this helps and stay safe,
