Unhappy 5 months down the drain! - May 23rd 2010, 04:53 AM

This thread has been labeled as triggering, particularly on the subject of self harm, by the original poster or by a Moderator. The contents of this thread might therefore not be suitable for certain sensitive users. Please take this into consideration before continuing to read.

I am extremely angry with myself, I was doing awesome! I didn't self harm for 5 months straight!!! And tonight pushed me over the edge. I really fought my urges especially for 5 hours, and I finally had no choice but to give in. I distracted myself, I did productive things and then without thinking i found my hidden razor and sliced my thigh. The cuts are really deep. I have had to tie something on there to cut of the bleeding. And i cant and will not go to the hospital because everyone is drunk and doesn't care about me.

I'm sorry hun. I know how that feels not doing it for a long time then giving in. You should really heep an eye on the cut though if you had to tie something around it to stop the bleeding that can never be good. If it starts getting worse you should go to the hospital or at least to your family doctor, you not want too but if it does get worse you should at least check it out. Everyone's here for you if you need someone to talk too.

Hii. The thing is, though, 5 months aren't down the drain. You had a successful 5 months which means that, even though you might have slipped up, you CAN do it. So don't be too harm on yourself now, realize what pushed you over the edge this time, and don't let it happen again.

Hey there Barb,

I can understand why you may be feeling somewhat angry with yourself right now, but what is done is done and I think that you should try and concentrate on the positives, even though that can be difficult.

You have not self harmed for five months straight! That is an absolutely wonderful achievement and you should be proud of yourself. Those five months are certainly not 'down the drain'. You didn't cut for five months, but you could have. You had the strength to fight through the difficult times and so there is no reason why you can't do that again! You have already proven your strength.

If your wounds are still bleeding, please seek medical attention straight away. If you need to, you can go to the hospital by yourself. It is important that you take care of yourself.

Take care.

It's one slip up. Don't worry about it. Five months is a huge accomplishment, it's a long time which means you're that much closer to getting better and going longer next time.
