Hey, i've been in the same situation as you...i cut for a long time and didnt think that i would be able to stop...turns out my mom and my entire family found out...she turned me in to a therapist. I hate to say it, but it was the best thing that has ever happened. I am currently an all time client and i have been self-harm free for a year and 3 months june 5th. Just a thought, hope this helps...take care...

Hey there,

Dealing with self harm can be hard but it is not something you have to deal with forever. I think it is great that you are seeing a doctor and what not and getting medicine but medicine is not a cure all. The point of medicine is to get us to a point in life where things are a little less stressful so we can then work on the issues behind our depression, self harm etc.

Are you in therapy? If so talk to your doctor. Be open and honest. The only way that therapy can help is if you open up and are honest. A doctor can only help us if we give them as much information as possible. So the more information you give your therapist the better able he/she will be to help you.

If you do not have a therapist I would really suggest that you get one. Therapy can be really beneficial. It gives you someone objective to talk to. I know when I am struggling and I go and talk to my therapist I feel a lot better. I am able to get all the things I am dealing with off my shoulder and get some type of feedback.

Another thing that can help with self harm is Alternatives to Self Harm. For a while it might not seem as if the alternatives work but don't give up on them. It takes a while for our bodies to accept them and grow used to them.

I hope this helped and if you need anything feel free to pm me.

Jenna

There could never be amore beautiful you
Don't buy the lies, disguisesandhoops they make you jump through
You were made tofill a purposethat only you could do
So there could never be amore beautiful you
-Johnny Diaz

Everyday
is so wonderful
And suddenly it's hard to breathe
Now and then I get insecure
From all the pain, I feel so ashamed

I am beautiful no matter what they say
Words can't bring me down
I am beautiful in every single way
Yes, words can't bring me down, oh no
So don't you bring me down today

To all your friends you're delirious
So consumed in all your doom
Tryin' hard to fill the emptiness, the piece is gone
Left the puzzle undone, ain't that the way it is?

'Cause you are beautiful no matter what they say
Words can't bring you down, oh no
You are beautiful in every single way
Yes, words can't bring you down, oh no
So don't you bring me down today

Talking to anyone really helps. It's nice to have a connection with people who will listen. Like the above post I agree that alternatives take a while to get used to but they really do work after a while. If you go long enough without self harming eventually you just won't want to anymore. You might still have the urge to but there will be a part of your mind that will be strong enought to resist.
