feels so bad :( - November 21st 2010, 08:21 PM

I cut myself and then put an open flame to it so now it's a burn.
It hurt me more emotionally than physically.
I told two friends because they saw it and flipped out cause they didn't know what happened or where I went wrong..
I explained everything to them.
Then, my friend guilted me into telling my boyfriend. And oddly enough, he was very supportive.
I don't want to do this anymore though.
I feel so guilty and embarassed that I did it again.
Now, I'm debating on telling my psychologist.
I'm wondering if I need help again.
How do I feel less guilty?

Well, between the fact your boyfriend is supportive, and you have a psychologist to tell, use those to your advantage. Tell your psychologist, and try to keep your boyfriend as a sort of support system.

Hey there.

I definitely agree with Julz. If you don't tell your psychologist what's going on, they won't be able to help.

It's good your boyfriend is supportive. It's important to have a support network, and people you can talk to about this.

You shouldn't feel guilty. Yes, you self harmed, but you didn't do it to hurt your friends, or anything like that. You're hurting, and you're just trying to find ways to deal with that. Don't feel guilty for that.

Take care.

Well, I told my psychologist that I was hurting and feel like I'm spiraling down in the wrong direction.. and she's putting me back on meds. Hopefully they help...

I think that it is good that you told your psychologist, and also that you have someone who can support you while you try to get better. Good Luck
