Wants this to stop. - November 28th 2010, 07:48 PM

I was wondering if anybody has advice on how to stop self-injury. I started and thought i could stop whenever i wanted to. It's been a few months now and i want to stop but i can't. i feel like it is my only option and my only outlet.

Any advice?

If you're feeling brave enough, tell someone. Even if it's a friend your own age, and not an adult. Having someone to talk to and confide in can help. If you're ready for it, tell an adult. Counselling might not be a bad idea.

You could try to distract yourself whenever you have the urge to self harm. Go for a jog, play your music loud, go hang out with friends, clean something, whatever you can think of.

There are also "alternatives" you could try. Scream (maybe into a pillow, if you don't want to be heard), punch something (preferably something that won't break, or hurt you in the process), wear an elastic band around your wrist and snap it against your skin or hold ice cubes.

And of course, there are lots of people here to talk to. Stay strong!

Agreed with what was said above.
Tell someone & get help..
Or try some alternatives.
Here is a list of alternatives that you can try (:

I hope all goes well.
