Mask of Happiness - January 18th 2011, 02:42 AM

I smile, they see nothing inside.
I frown, they laugh and howl.
I cut, they yell and shout.
I say "suicide", they laugh once more.
I try to stop, they do nothing but ignore.
I want to stop cutting, I get no help.
I ask for help, no one responds.
Will you help?

In short, I need help to stop cutting myself....

Re: Mask of Happiness - January 18th 2011, 03:27 AM

I think we all know what it's like to feel alone and without help at some point in our lives. My friend was talking once about how, "Cutting is just a way of seeking attention and help in other areas of your life." which I totally disagreed with; Cutting is a way of isolating yourself and avoiding help for other things.
It's really hard to directly ask for help for SH; but if you can't stick to stopping on your own, then that's what you need to do.
Try the list of alternatives, or talking to someone about it. If it gets to the point where it's way too much of a addiction to quit; then you should really try talking to a counselor and seeking professional help (as scary as that is).
We're all here for you though, and if you ever want to talk about anything, whether it be cutting or something else, send a PM my way and I'm all ears =)
Just remember; you are NOT alone and it is totally possible to stop. I cut for almost a year before I was able to stop. If I can do it, you can too =)

"talking to a counselor and seeking professional help"

Otherwise, thank you.

I'm a little confused about what those numbers mean but the list of alternatives is a great place to start. If you find one that doesn't work throw it out and move on to the next one. Just keep going until you find one that help, even for a minute. Also it would be beneficial for you to talk to someone like a school counselor who can sit down with you and your family and explain to them that this is not a joke, it's very serious, and that you are not seeking attention, you are in pain. If you ever need to talk feel free to PM me.
