Best scar-covering makeup? -
April 29th 2011, 04:24 PM
So I've a lot of scars on my legs and nothing is working to cover them up. I need them gone for my dance recital. My dress' are super short.
I'm can't wear pantyhose or anything of that sort because I need to be dressed the same as the other dancers. (For starters they're not even enough to cover) Even nude is too much because you can see where they stop and my foot begins and the ones with feet won't work with my foot-undies I need to on stage. Any suggestions? I can't afford anything too expensive. Appreciate the help. So I pretend that I'm amazed, .and that I can't believe my eyes He made the world disappear! But I do that trick, all the fucking time ![]() But only one is a wanderer, Two are always going somewhere. |

Ok, so I don't have any on my legs so it might not work as well, that said it might work better or exactly the same... Use a green cover up stick (to neutralize the red) and then use a foundation (spread it onto your foot and blend for better effect) and then a concelor on the scars. If you need to powder it, this way it will stay on when dancing. Good luck <3 Go in Peace!

I haven't had to cover any of the scars on my legs, so like Melissa said I don't know if what I can use will work for you. I use a foundation that is a shade darker then my skin color and mix it with lotion and rub it on my scars. Most of the scars on my arms are really old, so they're more faded. If your scars are newer I'm not sure if that'll work. I hope it does though.
Good luck at your recital! hear us sing! ![]() you will draw from the silence the things you ask strength, hope, and the courage to grow. ♥ |

Dermablend is said to work wonders...but also, since you will be onstage, keep in mind that it will be very hard to see them in the first place what with the lights washing your skin out, so even a foundation over them that sort of softens them instead of totally covering will most likely do the trick.
Break a leg! (Good luck??? I dunno, I'm a theatre person, not a dancer lol)

Hey Gabrielle!
Derma-Blend was mentioned, however, it's unfortunately something that you'd have to get on prescription, if I'm not mistaken. As others here have said, neutralize the reds with a green make-up stick, then after that, put on cover-up. I'd suggest a good Mineral foundation. It's going to cost you a bit more, but it blends well, and if you sweat, just dab it. It doesn't smudge easily AT ALL. |

I use Vichy Dermablend for my face (I'm really not the most attractive sort of person at the best of times
) and it's so thick you could make a new nose out of it. It's 30 bucks for a small (read: 30 mL) bottle and it's worth every cent. It works great to cover up scars. And I don't get it on a prescription.
"Once a little boy sent me a charming card with a little drawing on it. I loved it. I sent him a card and I drew a picture of a Wild Thing on it. I wrote, “Dear Jim: I loved your card.” Then I got a letter back from his mother and she said, “Jim loved your card so much he ate it.” That to me was one of the highest compliments I’ve ever received. He didn’t care that it was an original Maurice Sendak drawing or anything. He saw it, he loved it, he ate it." |

I just had this problem a few weeks ago! I used just a regular cover-up and put my tights on. You couldn't see it onstage. For long term cover up, I would recommend Mederma scar gel.

Also, apparently vitamin E works as a long-term solution. If you buy the capsules with oil in them and break them open. They aren't very expensive.
