Withdrawal? - July 16th 2011, 05:33 AM

So my scars like burn/tingle and Im guessing its withdrawal, but i also keep getting headaches could that also be from stopping cutting? The headaches get really bad at night time, the time I used to cut. Is there any ways other than rubber band snapping to stop these, when using that in the past it didnt help much but its getting bad so Im going try it again.

I've never hears of scars burning and tingling before unless in the middle of healing so I can't help you there. Sorry.

As for the headaches. Maybe try going to sleep a little earlier. Take some pain pills a little before the time you usually get the head aches if you must stay up late. As for the rubber band, I'm using this technique now.. It kind of works for me, but every person if different.

^yeah that wasn't all too helpful.. Sorry..

I'm pretty sure self harm doesn't come with withdrawal like drugs do, because it does have to do with the brain somewhat it probably does have a little withdrawal but I don't think it really causes the blatantly obvious withdrawal drugs do.

"'Colie, you should never be surprised when people treat you with respect. You should expect it.'
I shook my head. 'You don't know--' I began. But, as usual, she didn't let me finish.
'Yes,' she said simply, 'I do know. I've watched you, Colie. You walk around like a dog waiting to be kicked. And when someone does, you pout and cry like you didn't deserve it.'
'No one deserves to be kicked,' I said.
'I disagree,' she said flatly. 'You do if you don't think you're worth any better...'"

This; as far as I know. Withdrawal is usually the body reacting to not having a substance that it got used to having in it's system, and now is not able to find, so it reacts pretty violently (I've been through withdrawal 3 times on 3 different medications and it usually involves massive migraines, fevers, vomiting, "brain zaps", dizziness, etc). It's probably more of a placebo effect (your mind thinking it needs it so it makes you think you are developing symptoms due to not doing it), I'd say. I hope this passes, feel free to PM if you need some support getting through urges etc

Poor little tin man.. still swinging his axe, even though his joints are clogged with rust.

Life for you has been less than kind
So take a number, stand in line
We've all been sorry, we've all been hurt
But how we survive is what makes us who we are.

And the day pressed on like crushing weights,
For no man does it ever wait.

I try my best.

I never got withdrawal symptoms such as these. Cutting is usually more of a psychological addiction, and I do not think this is what is causing your headache.
Drink LOTS of water, and make sure you are well fed, and get more sleep. If that doesn't help, take a pain killer that works for you, and call a doctor if it doesn't go away within a few days.
Stay strong, PM me if you ever need!

I've never gotten headaches. Irritable and feelings like that, sure.. but never directly physical. I'm sorry. Places where I used to SH do get itchy though.

The headaches could be anything, especially if you are stressed out, angry or upset. When I experience large amounts of either of those 3, I get physically sick, regardless of if I get an urge to SH or not. So maybe it's just strong emotions or feelings, and the urge to SH just goes along with those emotions?
