If you do it with the intention to hurt yourself, due to stress for any reason, and if it causes a mark which stays for more than a few minutes, then yes.

If it is you who does this, please don't. Burns hurt like he'll, and if they're severe, they can easily get infected or land you in hospital. It's not worth it. Have you seen the sticky on alternatives in the SH forum? Some of those should be some help.

I hope you overcome this <3

I think it depends on why you're doing it. I've done that because it feels weird, and I kinda like to peel it off my skin (strange, I know). I don't think that would be SH (I wasn't doing it to hurt myself). However, if you're doing it for the pain, it would be considered SH.

Exactly. It depends on what is going through the person's mind when doing it. If it's because you like the feeling, or it's fun to do in any way, then I personally wouldn't consider it SH. But if you're doing it with intentions to hurt yourself for some reason or another, then it is SH.

I think it really depends. I've used it as an alternative before because I didn't see it as particularly dangerous. It didn't really hurt and it didn't leave a mark, so why was I going to worry?
Now it's just because I like sticking my fingers in it and then peeling it off so I have little casts of my fingers.
If you're doing it frequently with the intention of harming yourself and it does leave an actual burn, then I'd advise you to be really careful.
There are a million different ways to self harm, it comes down to this: If you're doing it to harm yourself as a way to cope, and it's something that leaves a mark or whatever for over an hour, or could be considered dangerous, then it's self harm. Anything could fall into those categories.
There's also indirect self harm, emotional self harm, etc. But I won't get into those now.

It depends on why you are doing it. If you're doing it with the intention of punishing yourself, expressing pent up emotions, or relieving stress then yes, it's probably considered SHing.

If you are doing it to hurt yourself or to get rid of stress then it is SH.
