It's a very dangerous and addicting addiction to get into.

It's a terrible thing and it's addictive. Trust me, I've cut myself several times as a way to cope. Now I use rubber bands, but I constantly need to have them with me and so I feel safe yet unsafe with them; and when I don't have them, I feel nervous and anxious and fragile and like one little touch will shatter me...

Cutting is a horrible addiction and will begin to control your life. It's almost like meth: owns your soul, turns you against everyone you love, and leaves you in shatters IF you make it through with your life. It can lead to death, accidental or deliberate.

Trust me, it can start with something as simple as curiosity or an accident, but once you realize it helps for a short time, you keep going back to it...

Hi there.

Self harm isn't encouraged because let's face it, it can be really dangerous. If you hurt yourself, you might need medical attention and it can leave scars on your body. I am assuming from asking why you can't cut, it is cutting you use in which case if you cut yourself badly you might need stitches or even a skin graph. Not only that but if a cut got infected you might need medication and in worse cases it can lead to amputation. It could also lead to accidental death. Self harm isn't safe.

But as well as that it is addictive and I honestly believe the more you do it, the more addictive it becomes and the more you want it and in some cases the more you do it, the worse it gets. Not also that but you can self harm as much as you want but at the end of the day the underlying problem, the one that is causing you to self harm isn't go away just because you hurt yourself. It's not making anything better and it isn't going to make any emotional pain you experience stay away.

I hope this helps a little. I really hope that you are okay and if you need any one, feel free to shoot me a PM.

It's a symptom of something. I don't think most people cut just because. They but because they have some sort of bad feeling or circumstance that they can't handle and have to make it go away for a while. But it's not a healthy way of making it go away, and it's also not healthy to have something that you need to completely get rid of at harm to yourself.
So the idea of quitting self-harm isn't that you stop just for the sake of stopping, but because you've found ways to survive without it. You can deal with whatever the root of the problem is in a way that doesn't endanger yourself.

Yes, I've cut before.
Yes, I've stopped.
Yes, I'm thinking about going back, because, yes, I'm suicidal again.
