Triggering (Abuse): Court

So. Thursday I have to go to court against my ex for rape. I'm so scared. However it isn't my first court appearance, I don't know why I'm so scared, he has been caught doing it by police (only way they could arrest him) and also I have pictures from bruises. I still don't know if I want to go through with the court thing. I just can't see someone to whom i once loved go through this.

think of the horrible things this guy did to you, he deserves to go to prison! and if he doesn't go, you'll have to worry about him forever! not to mention he would probably do it to other girls. so go to court, and fight for your right to not have to worry about this guy. it's the right thing to do.

Hey Brittany, I can understand that you wouldn't want to see someone you once loved going through that, but what about what he put you through? What he did to you was wrong, and you didn't deserve any of it. You deserve to have your voice heard and that's what Thursday is about. Do you have anyone supporting you through this? If you do, could you talk to them about how you're feeling? You certainly don't have to be alone with any of this, so please keep reaching out and know that you're not on your own.

So I went to court this afternoon, it was short and sweet! He got 5 years, and 100 hours I think it was. I do feel so incredibly bad, but what can I do.

I know you said that this thread can be closed, but I just wanted to quickly say a huge well done for doing what you did today. You were so brave to stand up in court and speak out about what happened. I'm proud of you for that, and I hope that even if not now one day you will be as well. You didn't deserve what happened, but you did and do deserve the justice that you got today. You said that you feel bad, but why do you feel like that? You didn't do anything wrong then and you haven't done anything wrong now. He is the one in the wrong, and he deserves to serve his time. Here anytime you need an ear.
