Are the voices in my head normal?

So I have two voices in my head that have personalities and everything.

One is called Oliver. Oliver is the one I like. He tells me that im beautiful and loved. He tells me that im different and special. Also I believe that everyone has a spirit or a soul inside them, and im different because I have two souls, me and Oliver. Oliver lets me control what I do but sometimes gives me advice.

The other I know less about and has no name. He is not as welcome in my body as Oliver is. He calls me names and swares at me. He tells me im worthless and nobody likes me. I find myself believing this so always feel unwanted. He also constantly tells me im going to die soon. This I dont believe but find it hard not to listen.

So I guess I want to know two things:

1. Is this normal or am I mad?
2. How do I get rid of the mean voice but keep Oliver?

1. It's not "normal" by societies standards, but is normal for people with certain types of trauma or hormonal imbalances.

2. It's going to depend on what's causing it. It could be a form of psychosis, in which case only medication and therapy will help, or it could be some form of dissociation, which only therapy will help, it could also be a great deal number of things I don't know about.

Seeing as I am no doctor, and my best information comes from the multitude of people I know with mental issues, I'd talk to a doctor, therapist, or psychologist if you want to see any real changes.

But if you are afraid of talking to a professional for whatever reason, you can try talking back to the voices and trying to reason with them. If they do have their own full personalities(meaning more than just a voice), they have their own motivations and figuring out what they want means opening the door to negotiation. However if they are just voices, it may lead worse problems by acknowledging and "giving power" to them.

That's really something you need to have evaluated. It could be something like schizophrenia or dissociative identity disorder etc.

Or as simple as ego and id which everyone has. I hear a voice in my head telling me encouraging things and another voice calling me a worthless idiot. I know they are just different parts of my psychological makeup. Kind of like those cartoons or whatever, where someone has an little angel on one shoulder and a little devil on the other, saying conflicting things in each ear.

Awesome. I have had great success with school counselors and always recommend them.

Hearing voices in your head is a symptom of paranoid schizophrenia, which I know all too well since I have it. I hear voices, like you, except I just hear one. Her name is Jenna, and I don't know whether I hate her or love her. She's really awful, and fuels all the terrible things about me mostly. You can keep Oliver but get rid of the other voice by constantly telling yourself that Oliver is real but that the other voice isn't, although this isn't the greatest because giving voices power isn't the best idea. But hearing voices is a problem, so research paranoid schizophrenia and see if any of the other symptoms sound familiar or talk to a professional before the voices get out of control.

Hm it could be that but I don't believe anyone in my life is out to get me. I heat noises occasionally that seem to have no cause but I don't know if I have enough of the symptoms for it to be schizophrenia. I went to my school counsellorand she said to try asking the mean voice why it is mean to me, currently this is what I am trying to do.
