How do you cope with holiday stress? - December 2nd 2019, 01:34 PM

The holidays are upon us and as such there's going to be a lot of holiday stress. I was curious how you all cope with holiday stress?

I tend to watch a lot of holiday movies. Last year I even watched a few holiday movies with a friend.
I also try and distract myself by going to the different light shows in my town. I love Christmas decorations and seeing all the beautiful lights helps ease the stress.

What are some things you all do to cope with any stress that might arise during the holiday season?

Pretty much the same as you.
I remember to breathe.

And then I order all the gifts online because of social anxiety.

The holiday season can be super triggering and I find that breath work really helps calm you down. I also think it's a great idea scheduling therapy sessions before and after the holidays. The first to get you ready and the latter to help cope with any new stressors. Good luck!

Sometimes I just have to take a step back and be by myself. I try to watch holiday movies or listen to music when I have time though. I really want to see more lights this year!

To be honest, I actually don't get stressed during holidays. I know for a lot of people, times like Christmas can be really stressful, worrying about gifts, money, or other kinds of things. For me it's just another part of the year.

There have been times where I've been worried if I'm going to be able to give Christmas gifts to family due to finances, but it's more of a worry than a stress.

Life is for living, not for losing.

I take advantage of my safe space, which is all decorated for the Christmas holidays.

I usually try to be organised so I'm not getting stressed but I'm not doing that very well this year

I usually listen to music, watch films and try to get a bit done every day.

I usually don't stress out during the Christmas period because I do love the holiday season but I think this year has been the most stressful for me as far as I remember. For me, it was being able to have some time off work and being able to spend it with family and friends as well as being able to relax and do the things I wanted to do.

I usually don't stress. But when I do, I volunteer to work, lol. I find keeping my mind occupied is the best thing to do - and while earning money lol

1. (of a person or animal) able to withstand or recover quickly from difficult conditions.
2. (of a substance or object) able to recoil or spring back into shape after bending, stretching, or being compressed.

We all possess resilience, we just need to realize it.
