OCD Much - November 23rd 2009, 03:23 AM

Okay, so, it's not worrying me or anything but, whenever I eat coloured sweets or M 'n' Ms, I sort and eat them in rainbow colour groups.

For example, if I had:
7x Brown
6x Pink
5x Red
4xOrange
3x Yellow
2x Green
1x Blue

I would sort them into groups and eat each group in colour order.
The groups would be like:
1x Br,P,R,O,Y,G,B
1x P,R,O,Y,G,B

etc.

I would eat the small groups first and the largest ones last.

Is this really weird?

I think you're okay. Since you're only sorting out M&Ms and it's not interfering with your life, I think it's just a quirk.

I used to sort out the m&ms because I didn't like the color brown, but if you can still go on with your life without letting m&ms interfer with your life its OK.
Do you do anything eles that leads you to think that you have OCD?

Hey there,

Nobody on TeenHelp can diagnose you with anything, but if you are unsure you should always visit a doctor to be on the safe side

Basically, yes that is a trait of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, along with many others (washing hands, checking doors / ovens, thinking about things too much) etc. It doesn't mean that you have OCD though! Thought, and obsessions only turn into OCD when they interfere with your life. This could be making you late for school / work, not being able to go out etc.

If this DOES interfere with your life, or there are other things as well that help to interfere with your life, then you should visit a doctor!

Hiya

Everybody has a bit of ocd in them, its normal. Do you have anymore ocd symptoms. No-one here can diagnose you, so best bet is too see a doctor.

Good luck

i read that it has to take up at least an hour each day before its considered OCD, but the main thing is, would you become very distressed if you couldnt eat m&ms like that? It just sounds like a bit of fun to me and not at all weird

Obviously i can't diagnose you with OCD but do you have any other symptoms? and is this something that rly bothers u? for example, staying on the m&m's thing, i have to eat 2 of the same color and chew one on each side of my mouth. any that dont have pairs of the same color i give to someone else. theres a lot of things like that in my life that rly affect my life. if things arent a certain way i will get rly upset. ex. crying, panic attacks, etc. when i was little i was playing school with my stuffed animals and i would have to use a yard stick to measure out the space between each stuffed animal 2 make sure they were exactly the same distance apart. these are just ex. if its affecting ur everyday life like this then u might wanna go c a doctor 2 actually be diagnosed

Oh, I don't think I have OCD, I just think it's weird. Like, does anyone else do that sort of thing?
(When I was younger, my pediatrician diagnosed me with adhd. My Gp, thought it was more likely to be mild asbergers and had a son with it. Due to my addiction to making timetables and things, I would say he's probably right)
