got the test results... kinda... and I am now really confused...

Well, for the past few months I've been having neuro-psychological testing done, and it was SO BORING! But anyways, about two weeks ago my mom got the results, and I am not allowed to see the paper about it since I'm 'too smart and will use it to hide whats wrong'. So my mom just told me what it was. I have General Anxiety disorder that causes depression, or GAD and Depression, Apsberger's Symptoms, not syndrome as I don't have all of it so basically PAD-NOS. Also, my mom said I have something that sounded like schizophrenia (sound out, I cant spell sorry) so I have researched and I am pretty sure it is actually Schizoid Personality Disorder, as almost everything I read fit me and it sounds just like it. Does anyone else have any of this? Any advice on what to do? It just feels too weird as almost everyone else knows if they are high functioning autism by the time they are like, 6, and I am 15 and a half and just found out... Also, is there any way for me to be able to stop taking mental related medications even if my mom still wants me on them ? (I am in Florida if this helps).. Thanks in advance for replies

Hey, I'm not really sure what advice to give you on the Schizoid Personality/Aspergers symptoms; GAD seems to be a fairly standard (and common) neuro-psych diagnosis -- kind of a blanket term if you ask me, like depression itself. If you don't mind me asking, what medications are you on now? If they're just A/D's or benzos or something, I can't imagine your mom being able to force you to take them.

I'm going in for neuropsych testing in a few weeks. How was it/what kinds of questions did they ask, tests, etc? I fully expect it to be excruciatingly boring.

Well done on geting your neuro-psychological testing done, it's good that you've got through that and that you have your results.

I can understand that it must be frustrating if you're not completely sure about your results and I think it would be good to talk to your doctor about your concerns regarding that, I do think that you have the right to know, Achava, as it is regarding your health. I think that the best thing that you could do right now would be to talk to your mother and your doctor together and work something out and to answer any questions that you may have. In regards to stopping your medication, it would be best to talk to your psychiatrist about that and weighing out the pros and the cons. Your opinions should be valued and listened to.
