Question Am i Bipolar? - July 12th 2010, 04:53 PM

Some people may think this is stupid but i really want to get it out in the open.
So, i self harm and due to my feelings i have been given Prozac. Now, i have been taking this for 3 months now but it doesn't seem to be making any difference. If anything, it's making me feel worse. I feel that if your depressed, then you're always depressed and you haven't got the energy to even smile. My emotions are constantly all over the place.
Without exaggerating, i can go from completely suicidal and then suddenly become really hyper. I'm giving my friends and family whip lash from my constant mood changes, but i've also googled bipolar and it seems like i have all of the symptons. I haven't told my family because they think im a hypercondriach but i was wondering what you thought about it.

I have to go to the doctors on Thursday anyways so do you think i should bring the subject up?

How come dumb stuff seems so smart while you're doing it?
Good friends get drunk with you. Best friends hold your hair back when you've had a bit too much to drink!
There's no such thing as good girls gone wrong, only bad girls found out.
I've learned...
that maturity has more to do with what types
of experiences you've had and what you've
learned from them and less to do with how
many birthdays you've celebrated.

I think you should! I myself am thinking about doing the same thing.

I always ask myself the same thing ... "What's the worse that can happen?" Your doctor laughs at you and tells you to stop being silly and then gives you a diagnosis of hypochondria! Or something equally unlikely!

Just tell him/her what you have said in your post!

Good luck with it

Honestly... Explain your Hyper moments. Because Mild Depression can have Hyper moments too, as I know from a friend in college. Her doctor thought she was Bipolar, but after observing her moods closer, they noticed her Hyper moments weren't Manic moments.

YOu can PM me if you want to go deep into it.

I read that antidepressants can make people with bipolar disorder worse.... so yea, id deffinately look into it...

Yes, however, they invoke Mania, not worsening Depression.
