Caf meeting - September 24th 2010, 10:16 PM

Alright, So I've posted one like this before, but I m here again!

I'm freaking out. Its like a meeting, to discuss everything. Issues and ways in which I can be helped etc. I ve had three before. But a lot more has happened since the last one and its a new social worker and I don't really like her that much.

Who's there? My social worker ^^, Two teachers, Me, My mum, My young carer worker, My councillor and two people from the crisis team and possibly the school nurse. Its always so awkward.

I don't want to hear about how things have been. I hate sitting there, while people are discussing my self harm, like I am not even in the room. I'm dreading it.

I struggle badly with anxiety, and get worked up in social situations so I find it really difficult.

I guess I just need re-assurance

Reassurance? Look at your own signature. Stay calm and just keep going.

You've had these meetings before, so you know what's coming. It might be hard but it's going to help you in the end, so you'll just have a suck it up and get through it. I know you'll do fine, and just speak up if something is said that you're not comfortable with.

Aaaah, anxiety. They either drug you or tell you to breathe.
Do try the breathing though, it really helps.
Remember that to truly calm down, you must *repeatedly* take deep breaths and fill up your stomach as well as your lungs. This is incredibly difficult at first, but keep going and it gets easier. (I know the last thing you want to do is breathe deeply when you're panicking and overwhelmed, but it will help if you can do it.)

You may also want to try Rescue Remedy, which is a little herbal blend you can get at chemists. Follow the directions and spray it in your mouth when you are anxious, it helps to calm you down.

Ultimately though, if you're not anxious about everything and only stress out in certain social situations, it may well be that you simply don't like those kind of situations, and there's nothing wrong with that. It's only a problem if it stops you from doing what you actually want to do.

Do you know the reasons why you self harm? I am not asking to find out, I am simply thinking that if you can fix that problem you might not even have to go to the meeting.
