Bipolar. - October 28th 2010, 10:37 PM

It's official. I've been diagnosed with bipolar disorder.

I've been on fluoxectine on and off for god know's how long now, and at the start I thought they were helping. Turns out, I didn't see what was infront of my eyes. I went back to the doctor for another prescription, and obviously, he went through all the routine questions like how are you feeling, any side effects etc.

But then we started to talk some more - something I've never been able to do. These mood swings, the extreme highs, and lows, it all kinda makes sense now. So now, new meds are prescribed. The doctors have said they will take up to at least 6 weeks to kick in properly.

I'm not building my hopes though. I did that last time and had them shattered when I completely went down hill again..

Will I ever be better or normal again?

Well it really depends, actually.

Some people get through Bipolar Disorder perfectly fine (like the one user here I know has Bipolar, but also has a good job and a place with their fiance), but then some struggle with it throughout their lives.

I think it depends on how your treatment goes, more than anything.

If you ever need to talk, don't hesitate to PM me.
