It is a kind of fear in the person of anything in particular or its surroundings. A phobia is different because it is a very strong fear of the situation or what. There are also afraid to go. Children with phobias fear of something every time they see or experience.

Yeah I wouldn't call them phobias because a phobia is really, REALLY intense.

Everyone is afraid of odd things. If it's affecting your life, you may want to look into counseling.

I'd go more towards anxiety, plenty of people become anxious when they have thoughts about being alone or death, its normal but if its starting to affect you negatively then I suggest talking to a doctor who can perscribe something to help.

I have a fear of choking while eating what had become worse in recent weeks. I'm not sure how I had this fear, but I have a phobia of been trapped in a small space so guess its link with the loss of control.

Instead of talking to a general practitioner, please talk to a psychiatrist or clinical counselor first. Jumping straight to psychotropic medication is just trying to cover of the problem rather than solve it. Getting a pill might be easier, but is more expensive and less productive in the long run than facing the problem.
