How to cope with feeling awkward and embarrassed? - December 12th 2010, 01:22 AM

Anybody know how to cope with feeling awkward and embarrassed? I often have these feelings and feel disrespected as well.

Best advice I got is to just not worry about it. Tell yourself that it doesn't matter and don't let it get you down. It's not easy, but that's that what I do and it works. Make a joke, walk it off, forget about it. No one else will remember or care 5 minutes later anyway.

Try to tell yourself it's all in your head. You'll only seem as embarrassed as you let yourself feel. Try and imagine it's not a big deal at all and doesn't bother you. (: x

I often feel awkward and embarrassed too! I think its therapeutic, though, to be able to go back and relive the awkward moments with your friends by laughing at them! It's great to be able to have a sense of humor; it helps. Seriously. (: The posters above me are right on point. I think everyone feels embarrassed and awkward I'd say...at least 30% of their whole lives. The ones who don't seem that way are just the ones that are confident enough to laugh it off. (:
