Cymbalta/Duloxetine - May 31st 2011, 09:38 PM

This thread has been labeled as triggering by the original poster or by a Moderator. Please take this into consideration before continuing to read.

My doctor has changed my meds from Prozac/Fluoxetine to this Cymbalta stuff, and I was wondering if anyone could give me some info on it?
Google brings up the usual side effects etc, but they're never accurate...so is anyone else on this?

I worried when he said that the suicidal thoughts I had on prozac could possibly increase, and this med has a more severe discontinuation syndrome :/

I didn't really get the chance to object to the change, or question it, as he had medical students with him and I just wanted to get out of there.

Plus, I have to stay off the prozac for about 4 -5 days before starting this new one - will I get any withdrawal? I've been on it for 2 months.

I was on Celexa before I got put on Cymbalta. I went through a little withdrawl: fatigue, shakes, upset stomach, the usual. But it wasn't too bad.

DO NOT eat before taking the Cymbalta. I puke it all right back up. I'm not sure why. During the first few weeks of taking it, you may feel dizzy. Just fair warning.

That's about all I have experienced with it. But it's different for everyone.

Cymbalta has saved my life... seriously im pretty sure id have killed myself by now if it wasent for this amazing pill. It seriously improved my mood, energy level, and concern for things. I have been on at least 4 other anit depressants that did nothing at all for me.The only issue i have with it is if i even forget to take it one day I get a thrashing headache and just feel like im dying....so yeah thats kinda scary. So make sure and take it every day on time. but if u keep up a good routine then i think ur better off with it

Yes, forgetting to take it will MESS you up. I'm off of it now, but if I would forget to take it I would feel terrible/ get horrible headaches/ feel extremely weak/ upset stomach, and if I forgot it for two or three days I would get a pounding headache, shortly followed by pounding in my ears, loss of vision, and then I would vomit everywhere. Bad withdrawals. Getting off of it sucked, but I quit cold turkey. I also gained 20 pounds in the month after I quit taking it. It was pretty good in the beginning, but I'm glad I'm off of it.

Also, I'm seeing things. I see the little balls of light in the corner of the eye randomly. I need to have my meds refilled...

I'm finding Duloxetine VERY helpful.. when starting it I just had the typical nausea and headaches, I was also quite tired and sleepy for the first week or so.. otherwise, it is really good I have also forgotten to take it some days and not had a problem, just a little upset stomach the next day when I take it again. Hope this helps
