Body Dysmorphic Disorder - July 18th 2011, 08:29 AM

Hello, all! I'm wondering if anyone here is familiarized/suffering from a psychiatric condition called "body dysmorphic disorder" (or BDD, for short). I haven't been officially diagnosed, but I'm nearly 100% positive that I suffer from it (my slight/"imagined" defects being my hair and my head-to-body ratio (size-wise)). My reason for posting this is to inquire about other people's compulsions/obsessive thoughts/behaviorisms so that I can better understand the nature of this condition and seek effective treatment options--so if anyone wants to talk about this in detail, please let me know. The compulsive nature of this problem is literally stripping me away of all sanity/any ounce of happiness that I might have had...and I just desperately want it to stop.

Thanks in advance for the support.

“It’s weird, like, you can see the cruelest part of the world...the cruelest part…
but then on the other side you see the most beautiful part, you know?
It’s like you go from one extreme to the next…and they’re both worth it
because you wouldn’t see the other without the other one…
but that cruel part is damn cruel, and you’ll never forget it.
But that Heaven is Heaven…so it’s like,
I’ve been to both places."
