Is this a Mental Issue or... - October 2nd 2011, 02:22 AM

Hey There,

So i was just wondering...(I hope i can explain this

Lately when something good or bad happens i usually attract it to myself

EXP.
in blood diamond when leonardo dies i feel like he's really gone and that i caused it and that somehow i couldve done somthing to save him so i just cry and cry and cry until i fall asleep.

NOW i know he's not really dead but why do i feel this way could it be that i'm using him as a fictional character in my mind that has passed or is something really wrong.

btw I do this with anyone and anything!

Unfortunately, I don't think any of us can give you a satisfactory answer without further information. When someone continues to hold on to a false belief, despite evidence to the contrary (ex. proof that Leonardo isn't really dead), psychological professionals say they are delusional. You seem to recognize that these beliefs are incorrect, though... so I'm not sure if you'd qualify for a diagnosis of delusional disorder or not. Still, it couldn't hurt to talk to your doctor about this and ask for a referral to a psychological professional, since it is obviously causing you a significant amount of distress.
