Unhappy possible schizophrenia? oncoming? - October 25th 2011, 07:15 AM

So lately I've been having these little episodes where I feel like people are watching me. At first it feels like a dream but I'm concious enough to function and think properly.
Ex: I felt like the people from my job were taking a field trip to watch me sleep but I had no pants on. So I got out of bed, put shorts on, put the covers over me, and went back to sleep feeling watched.

Its a mix of rational and irrational thoughts.

And sometimes I hear things that aren't there, they're just imagined. Like right now, I thought I heard my mom open the front door, come inside the house and call me by her nickname for me. But when I opened the door nobody was there. No lights nothing.

But even scarier for me was this weekend when I was so tired I just fell asleep on my bed..or so I thought?
I can't tell who was laughing: Me, my mom, or something else...it kind of sounded like an echo of one laugh over and over. In a way I felt like a demon was inside me and laughing at me, taking over me. It felt like a dream actually, I knew it was a dream, so I tried pulling myself out of it. I tried to open my eyes out of that hell. I thought I did because they opened and I saw the wall next to my bed and my covers. It looked so real. It even felt like I was pulling myself out of bed until I 'got up'.
I walked through the hallway of my house and everything turned scarlet when I got to the kitchen. Like the room was being lit by bloody candles...oh god...um I walked in there and saw...
I saw..a uhhh..dismembered girl lying there with no head.
and I tried to drag her into my room on my bed while a voice in my head told me to hurry up before someone saw. It was evil.
That wasn't me! I had no control over myself! It was a dream but it was so real! When I finally got ahold of myself I just..idk after I woke up I just remember going back to sleep hoping the dream didn't continue.
I'm really scared guys please help D;
What's happening to me?!?!?
And no I wasn't under the influence of anything. Seriously guys I'm scared

I would HIGHLY recommend you go see a professional. On this site, we cannot diagnose you with any disease. But these symptoms are not typical, and I beg you to see somebody. Schizofrenia is treatable, my cousin has it, and he lives a relatively normal life. Don't not go because you are afraid of the diagnosis; Instead of suffering your entire life, you can get help. I promise you it is the right decision.

Lena, I'm a bit confused here. Are you saying that last part was a dream, or were you awake?

Really creepy nightmares can seem real, even when we wake from them. And that "feeling" can stay with us for while. Is that what happened, or was this all during wakefulness, the images and all?

The first part of the dream I was awake, when I heard the laughing.
Some of it is real I think. Like when I thought I heard my mom I was fully awake. And for those other dreams I was awake because I knew what I was doing. But it was like a mix of being awake and dreaming. Its weird.

First of all,
I don't appreciate the way that was said.
And 2,
I'm asking for help on here for a reason. Don't you think if I wanted to see a professional right away I would?

Lena, first, one of the indicators of schizophrenia is family history, it runs in families as there's a strong genetic component to it. So, if you have a blood relative who's been diagnosed with it, then there's a better chance this might mean something, you should tell your mom. That's just an FYI.

Second, if this is the only time it's happened, then I wouldn't be too concerned about it. It could be a lot of things, but if it's the first and really only time, then it's probably more frightening than 'Predictive' or indicative of some actual illness.

Dreams can seem very real, and their effects sometimes linger into wakefulness, and it can appear like the imagery and feelings are real. But as long as they pass then it's just a scary thing that happened, not the result of something like schizophrenia.
