Is it my pills or what? -
February 5th 2012, 04:56 PM
Okay so, I'm just curious as to how strong my pills actually are and how much they affect me..
This Saturday and last Saturday I forgot to take them. They are antidepressants that also help with anxiety (although I wasn't actually diagnosed with anxiety, I do have it though I believe) so I took them Sunday morning when I got up. But anyways, both Sundays I burst into tears.. I was going through some problems last weekend with friends so I thought it was cause of that. But then today I cried too.. and just felt helpless. My brain feels like someone is holding it tight in their hands, and it doesn't exactly hurt but its really uncomfortable and I keep having like little anxiety fits or something.. Like I thought about driving (I have to practice to get my license) and then I started getting really short breaths, the hands on my brain tightened and I felt like I was going to cry.. My eyes feel weird too. Like the back of them ache almost.. I put my contacts in just in case it would help. I don't think it does. Anyways, when I take my pills I don't get these feelings. Or at least not so randomly and strong.. so does this mean if I didn't take my pills I would be as hopeless as I feel when I forget to take them? Or is just an affect of forgetting to take them? (I also drank both Friday nights, but drinking doesn't seem to have a big impact on the way I feel the next day unless I drank A LOT. I hope someone has some insight, thanks in advance! <33 Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind. Hey there.
With a lot of antidepressants/anxiety meds, if you miss a dose it can have negative effects on you. With most of them you're not really supposed to drink either, so that could possibly be a factor in how you've felt the last two weekends, but it's most likely due to missing a dose. I'd just try to make sure that you take every dose. Set an alarm on your phone or something as a reminder if you need to. If this continues to happen, I'd definitely see your doctor, and it'd probably be a good idea to see your doctor about it anyways. Have you been on these meds for awhile or have you recently started them? If they're new, it could be part of getting used to them. Anti-depressants/anxiety meds can have some pretty extreme side effects. But like I said, just try to make sure you don't miss any doses, and consider seeing your doctor about it. I hope you don't have any more problems with it! Take care, Emily ![]() Great works are performed not by strength, but by perseverance. PM me anytime <3 |

Missing a dose on any medication can make symptoms worse, and so will doubling a dose and drinking. Set an alarm or something to remind you to take your medication at the same time everyday. Your body needs a system like that for it to process the medication appropriately. Talk to your doctor about what medications you are on and the symptoms you are experiencing if this continues.
I hope everything works out. "To see a world in a grain of sand,
And a heaven in a wild flower, Hold infinity in the palm of your hand, And eternity in an hour." William Blake - Auguries of Innocence |

Yeah if you go off yuor antidepressant for a day or two you can get moody. I remember when I went off mine I got really moody. Just take your med and you should be fine and not feel like this moody. But if you feel moody on the pill then talk to your doctor.

Missing doses can certainly have negative effects, both psychological and physical. I ran out of venlafaxine/effexor one weekend and didn't have a refill, so I missed two consecutive doses. I figured it was no big deal -- I could call on Mon. and have a new script sent over to the pharmacy. By Sun. afternoon I felt so sick I had to leave work, was vomiting, felt a weird tingling/"rubbery" sensation in my skin, etc. I had to call the emergency line at my clinic for an Rx override. Not fun. YMMV
