throwing up - July 27th 2016, 12:05 PM

every time i eat i force myself to throw up, i cant help it, i have tried very hard not to but i cant, it doesnt matter how much i eat it can be one small thing and i will throw it up, my thoughts run through my head about wanting to be thin and pretty and want to die all at the same time, i have gotten very good at hiding it from everyone, once my fiance walked in when i made myself throw up, i hid it and pushed it down the drain, then he left and heard me throw up agian and i couldnt hide it, but what he doesnt know is i throw up every day multiple times a day.

Hi there.

If you're throwing up multiple times and feel like you can't control it, now is the time to seek help. The problem with eating disorders, as with most mental health conditions, is that they can spiral out of control very quickly. The thoughts that are running through your head are going to keep fuelling this behaviour until you find a way to make them stop. And the way to do that effectively is to access professional help.

At the moment, you are hiding this from your fiance and, whilst it's completely understandable, I think this is something he needs to know about because he can then be part of your support network. I'm sure that he wouldn't want you to hide this from him and will be concerned when he finds out that you are struggling. But that concern can be turned into something positive - accompanying you to an appointment with your doctor. S/he can then refer you on to the appropriate service so that you can be assessed and a decision can be made about what help to offer you.

I'm aware that this probably sounds very daunting. But you need to be brave and reach out because things will not improve unless you take action. It's great that you have posted on TeenHelp, and we will do our best to offer words of support and encouragement, but we aren't qualified to offer any kind of therapy and you therefore do need to reach out to healthcare professionals too.

I'm sorry to learn that you are dealing with this as it can't be at all easy for you. I do hope that you are able to make that appointment with your doctor.

Best wishes,

Jasmine.

Be kind to yourself.

Well, tythanol might help or taking some TUMS which are antacid pills. Also, you may see your doctor and get help from him and see what he says. Because, if you just hide it it's just gonna get worse and your parents are really gonna wonder what's going on.

Your doctor wouldn't be the one to deal with this. He would refer you on to the appropriate specialist. Either an eating disorder team, or a psychiatrist.

Don't let your opinion of him stop you from accessing him. It's really got little to do with him. This is about YOU.

Be kind to yourself.
