Anorexic? - August 1st 2011, 07:42 AM

So a few weeks ago, my boyfriend & I were making out & he said I should work on my stomach. I've never had a problem with my stomach & usually people say how skinny I am, so this totally surprised me & definitely stung a bit. Then last week, I found out my boyfriend was comparing my body to another girl's picture, whom he used to like & still has added on facebook. Needless to say, I was really hurt & it just really threw me into a funk for a week or so before he & I finally talked about all that stuff (there was some other issues, but those really have nothing to do with my question).

Since the first incident, I've noticed I suck in my stomach more & I've been working out every day to tone my stomach (which I guess isn't that bad), but I've also cut back on food. It's not that I'm skipping meals on purpose, but I just lose my appetite once I start eating, yet I'm always hungry. Is it possible I've become subconsciously anorexic because of what he said? If that's even possible?

Well, Anorexia is a specific disorder that usually takes years of development. However, the things you are doing to your body are not healthy and could put you on the road to an eating disorder. I recommend you start eating the way you were before. If you are worried about your weight, I would see a doctor for him to make a diet plan that can work for you, but don't just starve yourself, you need food.
I'm so sorry about the things your boyfriend said to you! You should not have to deal with somebody treating you so poorly. Are you still with this guy? You deserve to be with somebody who treats you for the beautiful person you are.
PM me if you ever need.

Re: Anorexic? - August 1st 2011, 08:11 PM

Well that's my problem. I try to eat normally & I try to eat when I'm hungry, but I just totally lose my appetite when I start eating, so I eat less. Then I get hungry again shortly after & it starts all over again.

As for my boyfriend, yes, I'm still with him. We have our issues, but he really is a great guy. Believe me, if it got any worse than that, I'd dump him. I've already been in a bad relationship where I was treated poorly, so this really isn't as bad as that. I'm just worried that I'm taking this too far or something. I'm already underweight, because I have a fast metabolism & I'm just small in general.
