scar pain - April 7th 2009, 08:58 PM

Sometimes my scars hurt really bad I'll just get shooting pains that go through them.

Anybody know why?

Re: scar pain - April 7th 2009, 09:03 PM

I get this too. I don't know why, I'm guessing it has to do with the whole fact of self-harm being an addiction. I don't have a ton of extremely noticeable scars, but the pain is usually on places where I have cut before, whether or not it was deep.
I guess it's just one of those things we now live with.

I agree with Jamie. If it's extreme pain, check it out with a doctor. There may be an underlying problem with your pain is really bad.

I have no idea but I would like to know the answer as well. Sometimes the same thing happens to me.

Hey Kendi,

I have never experienced this personally and it does seem a bit strange so I would strongly advise you to see a doctor. They would be in the best position to help you and might be able to explain why this is happening. I hope you are able to do this. Stay strong :-)

I too have experienced this. Maybe it's the scars trying to heal or something? I dont know, I don't think it's a bad thing.

I have no definite answer on this, I'm not sure what could cause scars to hurt, but I would strongly suggest going to see a doctor just to make sure you haven't done any more damage than you thought. Just in case there's a underlying problem.

Re: scar pain - April 7th 2009, 09:52 PM

i get this. part of it is just your skin healing (this type goes away after a couple of months depending on how bad it is). the other type is when, like with mine, you've hit muscel and damaged it. don't worry, if you havn't gone that deep, the shooting pains sshould gradually cease.

hope i helped.

No one here can tell you a reliable and definite answer to why your scars are hurting, as we're not medical professionals. Your best bet would be to go and see your doctor and see what they say/what they can do to help.

Yeah, I sometimes get this, but only slightly. Itching/tingling pains normally mean it's healing... But strong shooting pains... I dunno, but go see a doctor =)
Take care x

Hey-

I agree that you should see a doctor. Though it could be completely psychological, it's not worth the risk. On that note, considering this is a medical matter, I'm going to move this to general health. =)

Re: scar pain - April 15th 2009, 04:37 AM

I would go see your doctor. My scars have bad pains like that, very bad ones, but I caused muscle/nerve damage. The only way to know anything for sure is to see your doctor.
