Difficulty Swallowing Food - September 9th 2012, 12:36 AM

I find that I've been having difficulties swallowing my supper. It's been going on for a couple months now. If it's something I don't particularly like, I have difficulty even swallowing a small amount at a time. It's almost like my throat closes up a bit. If I force myself too much, it feels like I'm going to throw up. Like, it's not like the food's even that bad. For example, I was eating broccoli, but I couldn't get myself to swallow it. I must have been chewing it for at least five minutes, but I just couldn't swallow it. I was even having trouble getting the nerve to even try to swallow. I had to really force myself to swallow small amounts of the broccoli in my mouth at a time. Each time I forced myself I felt a bit queezy. I'm on meds that suppress my appetite. Any thoughts?

I don't have problems all the time.

Hey there Robyn.
Well, I can tell you you don't have an eating disorder.
A moderator will probably move this to "General Health" soon.
ANYWAYS, could it be your appetite-supressing meds? Have you tried going to the doctor? If it's been going on for months, you could be not getting the nutritional value you need, due to the swallowing issues.
Please keep us posted, I hope you get better. <3
