A Rash - September 15th 2012, 04:47 AM

I have a red, inflamed looking rash on my armpit. I've noticed it has a strange smell to it too. I've been getting it on and off all summer. I stopped using my deodorant on it and stopped shaving for a few days and it hasn't gone away. It's also under just one arm, I've had it under both before though. I've noticed it kind of burns as well but that may be from scratching it. My boyfriend has the same problem and he doesn't use deodorant or shave (he uses body spray) and I believe my brother was the first to get it.

What could it be?

Hey there,

We're not doctors and therefore can't diagnose anything but it may be the follicles of the hair getting infected, usually from shaving, or clothes rubbing. If it's worrying you and keeps coming back I would suggest seeing your doctor about it. That way you cna be sure and get it treated.

I hope this helps,
Charli
