Very bad back pain. - July 28th 2013, 06:57 PM

Hi there.

So, since January, I've been able to pop my lower back by leaning forward. Sometimes I stretch to make it pop, others I simply lean and it crackles. And it doesn't sound like normal popping, either. You know, when you crack your back by twisting to the side. It doesn't sound like that. It sounds like... crunching. Crackling, crinkling. And it huuurts. I am able to stand for shorter and shorter amounts of time. I am now unable to lean backwards at all without any pain. It feels like something is... not grinding together, but... grinding together. I'm sorry, this is really hard to explain. Leaning forward hurts. Leaning backwards hurts. Standing hurts. Sometimes, sitting hurts. The only relief I get is laying flat on my back. It's only my very lower back. Not so much the middle or even the lower middle, but the very lower part of my back. Tylenol, ibuprofen, Excedrin, and even my prescription muscle relaxants (not prescribed for my back, prescribed for muscle spasms in my neck) do nothing. Epsom salt baths give relief for all of 10 minutes.
I've been begging my mom to take me to a doctor. She keeps saying, we'll do it, we'll do it. Until the very far off day that she does, however, what can I do? I'm hurting really bad.

Edit: I'll likely be going to the doctor tomorrow, but I don't know what to expect. I would still appreciate things I can do at home to relieve the pain.

Some people like heat or cold like a heating pad or an ice pack.

When I injured my back due to a taser, I was able to correct the issue by kind of doing a reverse pushup with my lower body on the floor and me pushing up with my arms while keeping my lower body flat.

My friend showed me it because I couldn't walk correctly and he realized I had a similar issue he had (slipped disc). I don't know if it was that as I never did any imagining as the issue went away. It may not work for you and I wouldn't do it unless your doctor recommends it.

So I haven't been to the doctor yet. My mom says she's not too worried about it because it doesn't seem to be a bone problem, it seems to be a muscular problem.
I'm starting to get really frustrated with this. I don't think the reverse pushup is gonna work because I don't have a slipped disc and it's not from a sudden injury, it's a muscle problem.

I had bad lower back pain for a couple years before I went to the doctor. I thought I just kept pulling the same muscles, but it ended up being stress fractures in my spine some things that might help are: keeping good posture, doing planks, and finding other core exercises that you can do while keeping most of your back flat.
I hope everything goes well
