It's so sore - February 22nd 2018, 03:30 PM

I never realised how hard it is typing on a phone with one hand when the other hand is in a cast. My hand is broken alongside with my fingers and cracked knuckles, the hospital let me go home without any pain relief or painkillers and I'm wide awake from the pain and I'm wondering if anyone knew of some home remedies to act as a painkiller

God I'm so sorry. Do you have any ibuprofen/Aleve, or some other over the counter painkillers? Those almost always work. And if not, try Epsom salt, or a heating pad/ ice water, which ever numbs the pain. Hope this helps, and feel better.

Hey,
Hospitals usually give yo pain meds, even if they are just a higher dose of over the counter ones. I would recommend you calling them or your GP tomorrow and ask for some pain meds.

I hope your hand feels better.

I've been using codeine but it doesn't have any effect on me. I've been using heat pads and hot water bottles. Ive made an appointment with my GP next week so hopefully I'll get something stronger.

Thank you for the suggestions

Hey there,

I am glad that you were able to get an appointment scheduled. I hope that they will consider giving you something that will help a bit more. I know that I have a high tolerance for most medications so a lot of the time I have to try a few different medications before I find one that works!

Please keep us updated on what your GP ends up saying/doing! I hope you start feeling better soon too.

I have a strong painkiller from the GP today but is it normal to have a burning/tingling feeling?

Re: It's so sore - February 27th 2018, 10:43 PM

Hey there,

I am not sure about burning but I know when I broke my Thumb and a few other bones there was a period where it tingled. The tingling was more of a numb sensation but once I got it put in a splint and the bones started healing the sensation stopped.

Since I am not a doctor and I don't know if what you are experiencing is normal it might be a good idea to call your GP and see if they can advise you on what to do. If you explain to them that you are feeling a burning and tingling sensation the front desk staff should be able to consult with the doctor to determine if it is normal or if you should get it checked.

Best regards.

Motrin and nsaids aren’t really recommended for broken bones anymore. They have fallen out if favor due to potentially delaying healing.
