itchy eyes - May 4th 2018, 04:12 AM

I am pretty sure my eyes are effected by allergies. They get really itchy at night when I am all done going outside. They it throughout the day too, but not as bad. I don't know what to do. The allergy pills I have taken before barely work and that's with me taking double what I'm supposed to. The only thing being effected is my eyes. I am wondering if anyone knows of something that might actually work.

Regular over the counter stuff never really seems to work. The allergy pills don't work unless I take twice as much but even then it just works a little bit, benadryl doesn't work, So I honestly don't know what I can do.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

You could try having a word with a doctor or pharmacist, or even popping into a local opticians and chatting to an optometrist. There might be drops that could relieve some of the itchiness and they might be able to give you more information on what is causing it. Either way, if the things you've been using so far aren't doing the trick, I'd definitely talk to someone such as these and see what they say.

Have you tried an eye drop? I know my mom has to do that during these months sometimes because of allergy eye. Maybe that would be different because it's specifically targeted toward eye-related symptoms? If not though I definitely agree with talking to a doctor just to make sure nothing else is going on!

Hey,

I agree that if you haven't tried eye drops it might be worth giving them a shot. I know my brother gets really bad allergies and the eye drops help when the medications like claritan do not. If they eye drop doesn't work it would probably be best to get in with a doctor and explain what is going on. They might be able to give you an allergy test to narrow down what is causing the allergy and that might help them to find a medication that works. I know some allergies are a lot harder to clear up than others so the doctor might also be able to prescribe something that would have a higher chance of working.

Best regards.

I get hayfever every year. and each time my eyes itch, my nose run, and im sneezing and such like, i use piriton or some anti histamine pills. as well as some eye drops, i think i usually use the optrex itchy eye relief ones or something similar. i also find using some cotton wool pads/make up pads (ones tht dont have any make up remover on them etc) and wetting them with water and holding them over my eyes for about 30 seconds seems to like help with my itchy eyes to.

Thank you all for the suggestions. But because I wear contacts all the time I don't think I can use eye drops. We are going to email my Dr. tomorrow to see if there is something I can use that would help.
