Feels like I'm breathing in smoke - September 8th 2019, 09:00 AM

While I live in California where there's usually smoke, there isn't any smoke or many fires. Yet It feels like I'm breathing in cigeratte smoke? I don't know how else to describe it. My father quit smoking and no one else I know smokes around me. I have had second hand smoke when my parents did smoke (my mom stopped when I was 9 due to passing) and my dad stopped back in either March or May.
I don't know. It just feels like I'm breathing in cig. smoke. Don't know why. I don't always smell it.

If you live around LA, then you would know there is really bad smog pollution. Add that with all the fires spread in that area last autumn, the air quality is going to decrease greatly.

Spend as little time as you can outdoors. If it gets worse, then go to the emergency room.

Wishing you all the best.

Do you notice that you feel like you're breathing in cigarette smoke at certain times or places or does it just seem to randomly happen?

There could be many reasons for this feeling, including as said above poor air quality in general. But I'm also wondering that, since you mention specifically cigarette smoke, if your dad might be relapsing at all? It can be hard quitting smoking, more so if your dad had been smoking for a long time. Would you feel comfortable mentioning to your dad that you feel like your breathing in smoke at times? You could mention that you are concerned about this feeling and just wanted to talk about it since it's bothering you.

As said above, try to avoid the areas where you may come across this smoking feeling. If it doesn't go away, or it gets worse, you can always get it checked out with your doctor to see if there is anything irritating your airways.

I mostly notice it when I'm in my room. I haven't seen any evidence of a relapse. I do keep my window but I looked at the air quality report and it says moderate.
