Question Acne - May 13th 2010, 02:09 AM

I have acne and I'm 17. I've been having it for about 5 years. I recently started using an Olay facewash with some active stuff in it (before was just soap and water), but its really not getting better. Help? I really hate it.

I also have trained myself to hardly ever touch my face, and I'm vegetarian. Dont know if that matters. Thanks

Love everyone

One of the hardest things to give people advice about is acne. Everyone's skin is different, so obviously not all acne solutions are going to work for the same people. It's next to impossible to recommend acne solutions to people, because something that worked for one person might not work for another. So I think the best thing you can do is take a visit to the dermatologist, and see what he/she recommends. If you want a real solution for your acne that you know for sure will work, then that's the right way to go.

Hey there,

I have also had acne for a very long time and have tried several different treatments. As Amanda has said, it's different for everyone and one thing that works for one person may not be as effective for another. It sometimes is just trying different things and seeing what works for you.
Talking to your doctor could really help with this issue. I have been prescribed anti-biotics and a cream that have really helped me. Anti-biotics can be very helpful for a lot of people, so it may be a good idea for you to try those.

Take care.

Firstly, I don't know too much about Olay, but I thought it was for more mature skin? It might be causing more problems than it is solving by being too rich and creamy for young skin. So you might want to look into changing to a youth brand of cleanser etc.

Also, the best advice would be to talk to your parents. If you have bad skin, the chances are that they had bad skin when they were young too. They might be able to give you advice on what they did about it, or at least give you an indication of when their skin starting to clear up.

And this mightn't really help you, but I found that when I went on the contraceptive pill, my skin cleared up a fair amount. Might just be something to try?

Hey there!

Everything works different for everyone, but there are some general tips that help mostly anyone.
1. Keep your hair out of your face
2. Put your hair up to sleep
3. Avoid the use of a lot of makeup
4. Shower every day

Also, going to your dermatologist would be a great idea
