Question Extra multi-vites. - June 28th 2010, 05:39 PM

I'm going on vacation in the mountains on the ninth.
I've been told that being in the mountains weakens your immune system, so my friend's mother told me to start taking an extra vitamin every day. I usually get sick when I go up there and maybe this will help? I already started doing it, I was wondering.... Is this the right thing to do?

There's nothing wrong with taking multi vitamins any time and anywhere - so don't worry it. They basically help to keep enough of the right vitamins in your body. If they have any negative effect then stop taking them - but this is very very very unlikely

Thats right.
I got away with it all and I'm still alive.

Nothing wrong with taking multivitamins, any excess is lost in the normal way.

I can see no way in which the mountain weakens the immune system as height only has thinner air by itself. If anything altitude sickness is more problematic

That's what it is. When I get altitude sickness, it weakens my immune system, nothing else. I'm usually fighting something off when we leave, and the altitude sickness makes it worse.

Well as far as I'm aware there's nothing in multivitamins anywhere near the level that's gonna hurt you if you take 1.5 times the reccomended dose, so go for it I guess.
