Hunger pains? - September 10th 2010, 12:33 AM

This thread has been labeled as triggering, particularly on the subject of eating disorders, by the original poster or by a Moderator. The contents of this thread might therefore not be suitable for certain sensitive users. Please take this into consideration before continuing to read.

This may or may not be triggering but it's marked just in case. So, I've been having severe hunger pains and I feel extremely hungry all the time... I literally feel like I'm starving. So how can I get rid of my hungry feeling? Before you answer this with the obvious answer of "Eat", sometimes I DO eat when I feel hungry like this (when I know I'm not) but I always feel physically bad shortly following. Like I get nauseous sometimes. It's just hard sitting through school with hunger on my mind CONSTANTLY.
Any help is VERY much appreciated...

PS: I don't think I'm dehydrated or anything because I drink a fair amount of water (because I play several sports).

Hey there,

How often are you eating, and what do you eat in an average day? The first thing I'm going to recommend is taking a look at this thread and ensuring that you're eating a balanced diet and keeping away from the snacks. Have you seen your doctor at all? With it being stomach pains I feel that it could be really beneficial for you. He could perhaps give you some recommendations of his own, or suggest seeing a nutritionist.

If you have any questions don't hesitate to message me.
Marie.

How much I eat changes day to day, and I most certainly do NOT eat snacks. But right now I'm eating about one small meal a day (on rare occasions 2) and maybe something smaller to keep my energy up as needed. My doctor says it's normal, but I don't think it is.
And thanks...

I would suggest eating more frequently. You probably feel bad after eating because your body isn't used to it. You may have to deal with it for a little while and eat small amounts more frequently if you want your hunger pains to go away. It sounds like you should probably be eating more anyway. You should check out how many servings you need from all the food groups each day and try to eat enough of them. You can increase gradually if you need to. It's dangerous and unhealthy to not eat enough because your body will not be receiving the nutrients it needs to function, even though the negative effects may be obvious yet.

I agree with Toast with saying that you should try to eat a little more regularly. If you're having a hard time eating, I advise consulting a doctor about this, because this could lead to other problems worse than hunger pains. Start small and work your way up.

I hope you feel better.

I called him and he says I'm eating normally. I've been TRYING to eat more and every time I do I can't keep it down. I don't know what else I'm supposed to do when my doctor says everything is fine...

Hey. Sorry about this late reply. I sent you a PM.

And anyways, try insisting on them figuring out what's going on. Don't let them brush this off.
