Question Asthma. - September 16th 2010, 11:17 AM

Well I was just wondering if by having asthma it can gradually get worse? I've stopped using my inhaler (yeah I know it's stupid of me) but I've noticed that the tightness in my chest is worse before I found out I had asthma. Whenever I'm in a room such as a classroom and the windows are shut, even if the door is open, I find it hard to breathe. And when I put my head in my arms on a table, that's when it's really difficult for me to breathe. Only when I'm actually outside in the fresh air am I able to breathe properly and the tightness in my chest kind of disappears.

Hey there Rianna,

My mom didn't use her puffer for a couple of weeks, and her asthma did get a bit worse. So chances are, yours will too. I highly recommend that you keep using your puffer that was given by your doctor, he gave it to you for a reason.

Good luck
Brittany

Hey there,

Obviously, you should always continue to take medication you have been prescribed. Yes, your asthma can get worse for a number of reasons. As your asthma is worse inside than out, obviously the air is making a difference. It could be because you're more sensitive to heat and dust than others, or possibly an allergy. I'm going to say that you really should keep using your inhaler, it's obviously effecting you badly.

Don't hesitate to message me.

Hi Rianna
Yeah your asthma will get worse if you dont take your inhalers
I was out of my routine during holidays, and staying up bit later etc, so sometimes I went to bed, forgetting to take my inhalers.
The result? I had quite a bad cold and cough for 2 weeks when I got back.

Take your medication, its there because you need it.

Hey,

Makes sure you use your inhaler as prescribed! Otherwise your windpipe will constrict further!
Best of luck!

Like the people above me said...
Yes, it does get bad. Also, like everybody said... you should always take what's perscired to you. It's supposed to help you while you're taking it... So you shouldn't stop

well, it cou8ld be that your asthma is just acting up or something. it really depends on the person and how bad your asthma is. like me, i have badish asthma, but i only use my inhaler when i need to, and sometimes not even then. (very stupid of me, i know) i only really use it when its acting up, or when im running, or something sets it off. could something be setting it off prehaps? maybe pollon in the air or somehting could be a cause in it. for me its burnt popcorn, and my mom its citrus. maybe it has something to do with that. i would also recomend you not be like me, and USE YOUR INHALER!!!
