bronchitis/sinus infection/pneumonia - January 8th 2009, 05:10 PM

i haven't been on here in SO LONG. i even had to re-register my old name
what gives? jk, i read what happened.

anyway, help!
i haven't been on here in absolute bloomin' ages and it's funny, because i'm really sick and, of course, running to TH. google is failing me.

i think i have bronchitis, my mom thinks it's a sinus infection or pneumonia.
don't say go to the doctor.. i don't want to i probably will anyway, but regardless, i can't get there until monday. so!

i'll tell you my symptoms and can you let me know if you've experienced them and how you were diagnosed? my mom is trying to force sinus infection medication on me, but i'm dubious. (plus, i would have to squirt it up my nose. yuck.)

-got sick yesterday with what seemed like a normal, shitty cold
-nose was so congested and runny
-woke up this morning with my nose acting even worse
-had a small fever last night, but now i'm REALLY feeling it. so hot, so cold. haha
-i have an inconsistent cough. when my chest starts rattling, i have myself start coughing, and then i either end up a. hurting my throat, or b. spewing phlegm. nasty.
-when i breathe in through my mouth, it..doesn't work very well. i can't explain it that great. it sort of feels like my throat is constricted, and there's this tightness in the back of it (have you ever had an asthma attack? it feels like that)
-*this part comes and goes, and really freaks me out: sometimes when i breathe in, it's not just a chest rattle, but my throat starts like wheezing and whining like an injured animal.*

anyway.. sorry to go on and on.
my mom claims it's a sinus infection. i don't.
then i told her about how i kind of have spots of pain on my upper back, from the inside. then she changed her mind and started yelling at me about how it was probably pneumonia.

who knows.
help?
plus, if you know how to make the *'ed symptom up there stop, please share.

From my personal experience I think it may be bronchitis, though of course I am not a doctor. Though, I had bronchitis a few years ago and experienced the majority of the symptoms you are experiencing. See your doctor on Monday, because if it is bronchitis it needs to be treated ASAP. If your fever gets higher than 103, or your symptoms get worse go to your emergency room or see your doctor immediatly.

Hm...when I had bronchitus/pneumonia, I had very few of those symptoms. The only problem for me was that when I inhaled...how to explain this...I felt like I needed more air, but it hurt to breathe in more. But obviously only a doctor can tell you if you have it. Also, it's unlikely bronchitus and pneumonia will clear up on their own; if you do have it, you'll probably need antibiotics.

I'm going to side with pneumonia simply due to the localized pain and the hot/cold flashes. The *'ed symptom simply seems to be due to either swelling or some constriction in the respiratory system, either in the throat or lungs. See a doctor, get them to give you any possible meds and get rest.

Chest infection maybe...sounds exactly what i had a few weeks ago
hopefully a course of penicillin or summat should clear it up
I doubt its pneumonia, it would be like debilitating, in bed can barely move esqe.
Trust me had it not nice
